Matolcsy György

Dr. György Matolcsy
Governor, Magyar Nemzeti Bank

Mr. György Matolcsy is the Governor of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (the central bank of Hungary) since 4 March 2013. He graduated at Karl Marx University of Economics in 1977 and obtained his Doctorate degree in 1984. From 1978 he worked at the Department of Industry at the Ministry of Finance, from 1987 in the Financial Research Institute and in the Financial Research Plc. (Pénzügykutató Rt.) as a theoretical researcher and advisor in the field of capital markets. In 1990 he became the personal economic advisor to Prime Minister József Antall. After 3 years membership of the Board of Governors in the European Bank for Re-construction and Development (EBRD) representing the Hungarian Government, he was director of the Privatisation Research Institute from 1995 to 2000, and of its successor organisation, the Institute for Growth (2002-2010). He was minister of economic affairs (2000-2002) and minister for national economy (2010-2013). Since 2013 he is the Governor of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank and he started his second 6-year term in March 2019. His latest book entitled Economic Balance and Growth was published in 2015. In 2013 he received the Barankovics Commemorative Coin award.

Patai Mihály

Mihály Patai

President, Budapest Stock Exchange

Mihály Patai serves as the Deputy Governor of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, as Member of the Monetary Council and as President of the Budapest Stock Exchange. He earned his doctorate at the Budapest University of Economics in 1979. He began his career at the Magyar Nemzeti Bank as Credit Clerk, and for 10 years from 1978 he worked at the Ministry of Finance as Scientific Researcher, and later as Deputy Head of International Finance Department. From 1988 he extended his international relationships at the World Bank in Washington, USA. He started working at Kereskedelmi Bank Rt. as Managing Director in 1993, and later at Allianz Hungária Biztosító Rt. and UniCredit Bank Hungary Zrt. he was appointed as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. In 2011 he was named President of the Hungarian Banking Association. Parallel to his banking positions, he had previously served as President of the Budapest Stock Exchange between 2008 and 2011.

Umerah Akram

Umerah Akram

Umerah is Head of Business Development for ELITE, London Stock Exchange Group’s (LSEG) initiative for private companies. Since 2012, ELITE has grown into a network of 1100+ companies from 40 countries operating across a range of sectors. Having led the launch of ELITE in the UK, Umerah has also helped drive ELITE’s global expansion with presence in Africa, Latin America, Middle East and the US. She focuses on scaling the business in partnership with networks and entities across the globe that are equally passionate about helping growing businesses achieve their potential.

She joined LSEG in 2005 as part of the AIM Regulation team responsible for day to day regulation of the Exchange’s market for small and mid-caps. She then moved to the Equity Primary Markets team, focusing on product and policy development to ensure the market framework remains attractive for existing and potential companies and investors in LSEG’s markets. Her work has included successful fiscal policy changes such as inclusion of AIM shares in ISAs and the removal of stamp duty from AIM securities.

Umerah previously worked at Deloitte where she qualified as a chartered accountant. She has a Masters in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Imperial College and an Executive MBA from Duke University.

Krzysztof Zdanowski

Krzysztof is a serial entrepreneur, who graduated with BA in Applied Linguistics at the Tischner European University in Krakow. In 2009 he built his first business, that soon became part Summa Linguae Technologies, now one of the top 100 largest language and technology solution providers in the world. As CEO of Summa Linguae Technologies, he has developed a unique business model based on a combination of organic growth and M&A strategy. He took the company public (Warsaw Stock Exchange) and managed a number of mergers and acquisitions both in Poland and internationally (India, Romania, Scandinavia, USA and Canada). Krzysztof is fascinated by processes of innovation in cultural and business environments. He has invested and advised in 30+ equity/debt projects. Krzysztof frequently keynotes conferences and has been a mentor, panelist and speaker at 50+ events.

Veres Tibor Tibor Veres
President, Wallis Group

Tibor Veres graduated in 1986 from the Institute of International Relations in Moscow. Together with his father, George Veres, they co-founded today's Wallis legal predecessor. He is currently Chief Executive Officer of the Wallis Group, Chairman of the Board of Directors and a member of the Board of Directors of Graboplast and the Wing Group. The most significant company in its field of interest in terms of both value and business complexity, acquired Wing Zrt. Three of the companies he founded are also listed on the Hungarian Stock Exchange as a bond or equity issuer. Alteo Energy Services Plc., Which is interested in renewable energy production, and AutoWallis Plc., Which has for decades been a well-known player in the Wallis Group automotive sector.

Szabó Levente

Levente László Szabó
Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Takarékbank

He acquired his professional knowledge at the College of Finance and Accountancy, majoring in finance and specialising in financial institutions and then at the Faculty of Economics at Janus Pannonius University of Pécs, specialising in business administration. Finishing his studies, he started his professional career in 1997 at the Bank Austria-Creditanstalt Rt. in the field of key account management then from 1999 he held team leader position in the department of German corporate customers at Takarékbank Zrt. Following this he filled in several high-level positions at Takarékbank Zrt. like Corporate and Business Unit Director, Savings Bank Business Unit Director, Managing Director, Deputy Chief Executive, Chief Executive from 28th August 2013 until 12th January 2017. Since 25th April 2017 he has been the Chief Executive of Takarék (previously FHB) Kereskedelmi Bank Zrt., the Deputy Chief Executive and a member of the management board of MTB Magyar Takarékszövetkezeti Bank Zrt.

Csaba Szajlai, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Figyelő obtained his diploma in public administration at BKÁE, and he also has a higher degree in foreign trade. He also studied in Germany, the United States and Italy. She has been working as an economic journalist since 1995. He started his career at Magyar Hírlap, where he worked as a correspondent, journalist, editor, columnist and senior associate, and worked for Magyar Nemzet, also as economic columnist and as editor-in-chief of Magyar Nemzet Online. His writings were regularly published by the World Economy. For ten years he has been the head of ECHO's TV Analytical program, a regular "interviewer" for the Hungarian Television's All-Fire and Rekontra program, and for five years he has been the editor-in-chief of Economic Radio / Trend FM. He moderates regularly in business forums. It is often called to analyze TVs and radios. In 2006 he was awarded the Media Prize of the National Bank of Hungary and in 2014 he received the Ministry of National Economy's Award for the Hungarian Economy.

Márton Paulovits

Márton Paulovits started working at the Budapest Stock Exhange’s Issuers Acquisitions Division in 2016, which is led by him since 2017 October. From 2011, he has worked in various international consulting companies. In 2012 he obtained his MSc degree at Corvinus University of Budapest, specialised in investment analytics. His professional focuses are the development and implementation of strategies for potential stock exchange issuers, assistance and advice regarding capital market ecosystem and product development. He regularly gives speeches on professional forums about capital market funding and public capital market presence.

Kata Lódi
Expert, Budapest Stock Exchange

Kata Lódi started her career at the Issuers Acquisitions Department as a legal counsel in January 2016. She is mainly dealing with potential Issuers, with the establishment of the Budapest Stock Exchange ecosystem, and with the ELITE Programme. Ms. Lódi earned her law degree at the University of Szeged (Faculty of Law and Political Sciences), after the legal bar exam she got her commercial lawyer degree at ELTE Institute for Postgraduate Legal Studies and passed the Hungarian Stock Exchange Exam at Central European Broker Training Foundation. Ms. Lódi gained her capital market experience at CIG-Pannónia Life Insurance Plc as IR officer, and at the Hungarian Central Bank as a capital market supervisor.
