The majority of the awards at the BÉT Legek Gala were awarded by the professional jury of the Exchange's Advisory Board, and the winner of one category, the Domestic Stock Trading Platform of the Year, was again decided by the public. The event was opened by Barnabás Virág, President of the Budapest Stock Exchange and Vice President of the MNB, who said in his speech: "The Hungarian stock exchange is one of our country's strengths, as its performance in recent years has consistently demonstrated. We are living in an era of great transformation in the world, where demographics, rising debt levels, deglobalisation and digitalisation are creating new challenges. Confidence and stability are needed to ensure that the Hungarian economic players and the stock market continue to succeed."
Following the opening speech, the Governor of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB), György Matolcsy, said, "The Hungarian stock exchange is experiencing a renaissance, which is a good indicator of the development and stability of the economy. In the period 2013-2019, the central bank's programmes ensured half of the average annual growth of 3.9%. The key to this success was the favourable interest rate environment, the Growth Loan Programme, the Self-Financing Programme and the redemption of foreign currency loans. In addition to the increase in the gold reserve to 110 tonnes, the BSE buyback also contributed to financial stability. Provided we successfully adapt to global trends, the coming years could also bring a period of growth."
"The domestic capital market is going through a very successful period. Over the past two years, the Hungarian stock indices, the BUX and the BUMIX, have been among the best performing indices in the world, with growth of over 80 and 90 percent respectively. Domestic retail investors have also benefited significantly from the market's success, with direct retail equity assets growing more than five-fold since 2016, to more than HUF 2,500 billion at the end of last year. And in recent years, we have raised the profile of stock market financing among successful medium and large domestic companies to a whole new level. As a result, since 2016 we have listed 38 new companies' shares and 90 companies' bonds on BSE. The size of the equity market has more than tripled and the corporate bond market has grown seven-fold between 2016 and 2024." - added Richárd Végh, CEO of the Budapest Stock Exchange.
This year, for the first time, the BSE Capital Market Development Special Award was presented to Wallis Group for its role in the growth and dynamism of the domestic capital market over the past 35 years.
Granit Bank Nyrt., which was listed on 23 December 2024 in the Standard category of the stock exchange, was awarded the title of The Biggest New Share Launch of the Year.
One of the most coveted awards, the Investment Service Provider of the Year, was won this year by Equilor Investment Zrt. As a distributor, the company was involved in the largest stock market transaction of the century. It is the sole provider of trading facilities for investors in the commodities market. The company also plays an active role in promoting Hungarian investment opportunities through capital market education and public awareness.
Among the issuers with the highest turnover in 2024, OTP Bank Nyrt. was ranked first, while Richter Gedeon Nyrt. came second and MOL Nyrt. third. The credit institution also won the Issuer Transparency Award for its outstanding work in market transparency and communication, and its newly launched ETF product was also recognised. Richter was not only the second largest issuer of shares in terms of turnover, but also won the Responsibility, Sustainability, Corporate Governance Award.
WOOD & Company came first in the ranking of the top-turnover stockbrokers, followed by Concorde Értékpapír Zrt. in second place and Erste Befektetési Zrt. in third place. Concorde Értékpapír Zrt. also received the Analyst of the Year Award in recognition of its work in market analysis and investor education.
The BSE also awarded several prizes in the category of the mid-cap market, Xtend, as well as the paper that achieved the highest price increase of the year and the institutions that promote investor awareness.
This year, the organisations in the Home Equity Trading Platform of the Year category were again voted for online by the public instead of by a professional jury. As last year, the most votes were cast for Raiffeisen Online Broker's trading system.

About the BÉT Legek awards and event
Every year for more than twenty years, the Budapest Stock Exchange has organised the BÉT Legek, an event that rewards the most outstanding annual performances of the domestic capital market. The awards are decided by a professional jury of members of the Exchange's Advisory Board. In most categories, results will be based on a quantitative methodology (e.g. turnover data) and the best performers will be awarded. The winner of the Home Equity Trading Platform of the Year category will be determined based on the entries received and the users' evaluation.
